The Team

Fulcrum was established in March 2000 with the three directors of the company collectively bringing over 40 years industry experience. Fulcrum’s operation is based on a small core team that is able to remain flexible; constantly evolving and reacting to the needs of our clients. Drawing from important relationships built over many years, Fulcrum has an extensive resource of equipment and staff backed up by a commitment to excellent service and a reputation for delivering the project on time and within budget; whatever challenges may arise.

Elise Tregaskis

Elise set up Fulcrum alongside Richard and Mike in March 2000 having worked in the industry since 1992. She predominantly looks after project coordination and logistics and ensures that everyone knows what's happening when. She is a master of creativity and can be relied upon to solve all manner of problems.

Elise has lived in Bristol for most of her life but enjoyed short spells living in Cyprus and Singapore as a child.

Outside of work Elise enjoys spending time abroad, reading and music and socialising with her friends and family (could add going to the gym but that just wouldn't be true!).

Mike Matthews

Mike is one of the original Fulcrum trio. He enjoys a multi-tasking role within Fulcrum ranging from production technician, crew chief through to client liaison.

Highlights include working with a fantastic crew on the G8 Summit held at Gleneagles, followed by The London Summit, G20 at Excel. These events were mammoth feats with exceptionally high targets to achieve but with the right team and attitude in place every target was met 100%.

Mike's old school - he's been in the industry for over 30 years (yes that’s correct!) and has grown up with the industry. He's gained some truly great friends along the way and has been fortunate enough to travel around the globe doing the job he loves.

Mike's 'time off' is spent with the kids, socialising and occassionally going to the gym. Being old school he loves listening to Genesis, The Stones and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

One day Mike would like to live in Italy without an iphone.

Richard Cross

Richard heads up our Specialist Power Distribution works.

He has over 25 years experience behind him after starting his career at Stage Electrics where he worked his way up through the chain to end up managing their production department for a number of years.

He has always worked to the ethic of job right first time and tomorrow is too late, perfect adage for providing services to live events where you only have one chance!

In the year 2000 he left Stage Electrics to set up Fulcrum with Mike and Elise to get back to the basics of providing a high level of service and relaibility within the fields of specialst power distribution and lighting projects.

Richard loves all things technical and can be relied upon to have the very latest equipment in all aspects of life, helping him keep one step ahead!

Dave Hitchcock

For those of you who know Dave it won't be any surprise that his 'biography' is still in the making, he's far too busy for this sort of thing, and rightly so!

In brief, we have been lucky enough to work with Dave since the late '80s in previous roles and he has been involved with almost every project since Fulcrum began. What Dave doesn't know about electrics probably isn't worth knowing and any cable duct he hasn't crawled through probably isn't worth visiting... you get the picture.

Shaun Deacon

Shaun runs his own successful business working predominantly in the commercial sector, running large scale electrical installations.

We introduced Shaun to live events around 5 years ago and he is always keen to join our larger projects; he is highly skilled and always happy to take on a new challenge and find new ways of solving old problems; he has excellent electrical knowledge and is often involved with the planning and design of systems.

Bruno Hunt

Bruno has mainly been touring large scale Musical Theatre productions as Head of Lighting and Lighting Designer for the past 10 years. However, he started freelancing for Fulcrum at about the same time and has been involved in many of our corporate, exhibition and live events over this time. Notably, he has been pivotal in two FCO projects – the G8 Summit at Gleneagles in 2005 and the G20 Summit in London in 2009. Bruno has regularly been involved with The Story of Christmas concerts at St Georges Church in Hannover Square, London; the Microsoft Tech Ed Europe annual conferences and Bailey Caravan and Motorhome Exhibitions amongst others.

Due to his extensive touring commitments, he picks and chooses his freelance work but often puts time aside for Fulcrum Projects in order to ‘maintain the balance’ and in his own words – ‘because of his great working relationship with and his loyalty to old friends and a highly enterprising and successful company’.

Rob Taylor

Having started his technical career with the local youth theatre, Rob trained in Technical Theatre at Mountview Theatre School in London. There followed a series of theatre based jobs around the country (including touring) before being made redundant from the post of Event Technician at Cardiff International Arena. Since turning freelance Rob has concentrated on the Lighting and Power side of the events industry.

Lighting wise working in Theatre, Exhibitions, Conferencing, Rock & Roll touring and some TV, Rob has lit everything from musicals, plays, conferences, exhibition stands, fashion shows, the Manchester Commonwealth Games, various bands (of various musical genres), gala dinners and car launches... the list goes on!

On the Power Distribution side of the events industry Rob has worked on a number of large government projects (including two G8 meetings, a Commonwealth meeting, numerous EU meetings and G20 at ExCel); also a number of Microsoft Tech-Ed events (plus Convergence and various smaller jobs), and countless conferences, dinners, AGMs, exhibition stands and fashion shows, as well as both The Open Golf Tournament (for the last six years) and the last two European Ryder Cup competitions.
